If you like a robust round the polka will suit you best. No doubt about it! The rhythmic beat and scintillating melodies make the polka a social and personal delight.

The Polka music dance form is said to have originated in Bohemia (now the Czech Republic) in the 1830's and became the most popular dance form invented in the nineteenth century. After it was introduced to the Paris dancing arena it became an outstanding success and polka mania became the order of the day throughout Europe and also many parts of America.

During the first half of the twentieth century its popularity waned but in recent years, particularly in the United States, it has returned with increasing gusto being featured in a number of dancing competitions.

Can you hear the music playing? The rhythm and the melody ignite your feet and your body moves in excited rhythm. Yes the pulka (Czech for half step) or as we know it , the Polka , has taken centre stage and along we go enjoying life hand in hand!
